£20.00Price

Four 'Miroir Sprint' Le Miroir Du Tour newspapers covering the 1957 Tour De France. Issues 580 A /B / C and 581 are included. The front covers all feature eventual Tour winner Jacques Anquetil in fine form. One of the issues has a beautiful rear cover of Belgian Desire Keteleer being kept dry under the umbrella of technical director Sylvere Maes.

The inner coverage features some of Anquetil's chasing pack including, Dutchman Wim Van Est, Italian Nino Defilippis, Frenchman Jean Forestier and eventual runner up Belgian Marcel Janssens. One of the issues has a full page focus on the cycling form of Anquetil, detailing his harmonious aerodynamic design which beautifully connects him with his machine.

The newspapers display beautifully as cycling ephemera. Never intended to last the test of time, the articles provide valuable insights into the cultural context surrounding the Tour De France in 1957 while documenting the riders everyday lives. The newspapers could be framed for wall art, to be admired as decoration, used for research or for an everyday coffee table read. Preserving the newspapers allows these histories of cycling to be examined from a variety of perspectives.
