SOMEC - 1980s - EROICA
The Societa Mechanica, setup by Oliviero Gallegati in the 1960s, would be the naming inspiration for his bicycle company based in Lugo, Somec. The company specialises in artisan designs producing fewer amounts of bicycles than the customary Italian brands. The Somec brand can be easily identified via the Tulip logo, associated with elegance and durability in an array of colours. While the Cavallino stallion on the top tube was also given to Ferrari and made famous on their racing cars.
This Somec from the 1980s is testament to design quality with a very light frame complimented by a Campagnolo Super Record groupset. The arched frame bridge was designed by Gallegati to follow the shape of the brake calliper. The bike is finished with hand stitched bar tape and a cyclo computer, retaining it's original 80s style. The bicycle is fully working, ready to ride and display.
